republicans finding their spines?

Maybe?  I read this last night about those caring public servants in Washington wanting to exempt themselves from obamacare, and it struck me as another opportunity for a republican not afraid to lose his invitations to the beltway cocktail parties to take a stand that might give the base a little hope and maybe start to unwind the Mr. Monopoly caricature they’ve been saddled with.

Then this morning I find this, and it looks like maybe somebody did take a stand … but reading further into the article, there’s this:

Reid spokesman Adam Jentleson flatly denied a report that the majority leader had sought an exemption for lawmakers and their staffers.

“There are not now, have never been, nor will there ever be any discussions about exempting members of Congress or Congressional staff from Affordable Care Act provisions that apply to any employees of any other public or private employer offering health care,” Jentleson said.

Forgive me if I don’t trust anything coming out of Harry Reid’s team.  So now I’m back to hoping somebody (Senator Cruz?) will turn this into something that garners a little public attention.
